Get ready to raise MORE funding and ENGAGE your audiences in 2019!

By connecting your fundraising and marketing/communications (marcom) plans, your nonprofit will have consistent messaging that helps you meet your fundraising goals, cultivate your donors, engage your audience, and increase awareness of your organization!

During this planning session, fundraising and marketing experts will walk you through exercises and activities to help you create your 2019 fundraising and marcom plans. They will also share their favorite tips and tricks to help you implement your plans, and answer your fundraising and marcom questions.

Whether you are THE fundraising and marcom person for your nonprofit, or you have a team, this is for you! Organizations with multiple staff members attending this workshop will receive 50% off for every staff member they sign up after the first person (email to get your discount code after your first sign-up).

The Schedule

9:00 am - 12:15 pm— Fundraising Planning

  • Identify the fundraising strategies you need to use to raise the MOST money in the LEAST amount of time

  • Set fundraising goals for each fundraising strategy

  • Create your 2019 fundraising plan

  • Translate your fundraising plan into a fundraising calendar to inspire ACTION

  • Get your fundraising questions answered by an expert

12:15 pm - 1:00 pm— Lunch (bring your own)

During lunch, you can choose to engage in any of following activities:

  • Continue working on your fundraising plans

  • Take a brain break

  • Network with other nonprofit professionals

  • Ask the facilitators questions

  • Watch Netflix on your computer

  • All of the above!

1:00pm - 4:00 pm— Marketing and Communications Planning

  • Determine your communication strategies for MAXIMUM impact and engagement

  • Create your 2019 content calendar for your communications and marketing (e.g., when you will send email campaigns, how many social media posts you post each week, etc.)

  • Develop your communications action plan

  • Learn how to assess which marketing and communications strategies are working for you

  • Get your marketing and communications questions answered by an expert

4:00pm - 4:30pm— Setting up Accountability

  • Set yourself and your team up for fundraising and marcom success!

Valerie Morris, Digital Presence/Social Media Expert & Founder of Tintero Creative

Valerie Morris is a marketing and social media strategist who believes that you can be successful in social media marketing AND have balance in life. She understands social media growth tactics and how they fit in with other digital communication disciplines like SEO, blogging, advertising, email, and more. Valerie founded Tintero Creative, a digital agency based in the Front Range. Valerie is active in the digital community in Denver, including being a founding member of Colorado Women in Social Media, speaker at Denver Startup Week, and speaker at many regional marketing groups. When Valerie "shuts off" her social media, she can be found running around with her two dogs, doing Pinterest projects, or searching for the best queso this side of the border.

Amanda Wallander Roberts, Fundraising/Evaluation Expert & Founder of Capacity Building Consulting

Amanda Wallander Roberts, MSSW, is a fundraising and evaluation coach and consultant passionate about building organizations’ capacity to fulfill their mission. Using her 10+ years of experience in programs serving children and youth, Amanda helps third sector organizations identify what they need to get out of “emergency mode” and build the skills and create the tools needed to successfully achieve their goals. She has raised more than $23million and trained nonprofit leaders and staff in effective planning, implementation, and follow-up for their fundraising and evaluation initiatives. Amanda loves working from different coffee shops in the Denver Metro area, so be sure to say hi if you see her!

Who is this Planathon for?

Fundraising and Marketing/Communications professionals at nonprofits. Many nonprofits have just one person for both, but if you have more staff members engaged in these functions, bring your whole team! After the first staff member from your organization registers, email to register the rest at 50% off.

What will I get out of it?

It really depends on what you put into it. We will be providing worksheets, templates, and best practices to support you in the planning process. Our goal is for everyone to walk away with at least the start of their fundraising and marcom strategy and action plans, if not the completed plans!

What do I need to prepare?

We will be sending a Planathon Prep worksheet before the Planathon, so keep an eye out for that email.

What if I already have a plan?

If you already have a fundraising or marcom plan, great! The goal of this session is to help you connect and align those plans to really amplify your message and increase your funding. If your plans are complete, feel free to bring them to this workshop and make improvements. It’s likely that our exercises and action plans will help you further refine your plans.

Where will the Planathon be held?

The Planathon will be held in the Denver area. The location will be announced at least two weeks prior to the event.
